Marino Institute of Education
Student Housing
Project Overview
The Marine Institute of Education buildings contain 302 student residence rooms and the buildings are laid out and designed as an integral part of the Campus, extending or containing the open space network in the campus.
BKD Architects were appointed in 1998 by the Governing Body to prepare a Masterplan for the development of the Institute as a Centre of Education and Personal Development.
The layout is based on a pedestrian spine (Maple Walk) linking a series of external spaces defined by existing and future buildings. Existing landscape features and the scale of existing structures retained on the site are central to the character of the Campus.
