Project Overview

The development includes the delivery of 208 houses, apartments and duplex units along with a Neighbourhood Centre. Central to the scheme was the delivery of a linear park and central green space incorporating pedestrian and cycle routes, linking the Southern Cross road to Ard Na Greine and the communities to the north on the Boghall road.

The Supermarket building and Neighbourhood Centre buildings mark the development on the Southern Cross Road and are immediately recognisable with their cranking roof forms and striking metal cladding. The Neighbourhood centre is located alongside a paved public plaza and includes a creche, medical and retail use with community facilities on an upper level. The first floor spaces are accessible from the street by an external publicly accessible first floor deck.

The residential component wraps around the linear park and central green, with two storey housing engaging the existing boundaries and properties to the north. Four apartment buildings arranged around landscaped decks and gardens mark the eastern end of the development and their gable ends create a strong presence on the Southern Cross Road. The combination of a strong palette of materials, carefully considered building volumes and roof forms, the new linear park, central park and public spaces, all work together to create a strong sense of place and coherency at this new urban location.
