26-27 Grafton Street
Project Overview
This project transforms a 1970s building in the Grafton Street Architectural Conservation Area into a contemporary, high-quality space that respects its historic surroundings. The design includes a new retail unit spanning from basement to first floor, with updated office floors above. A key goal was to create a unified and modern façade that blends seamlessly with the character of one of Dublin’s most iconic streets.
The façade features slender vertical elements in anodised bronze, arranged in interlocking ascending and descending patterns. These create a dynamic, double-height retail frontage while a series of horizontal cornices align with neighboring buildings. Set in front of a refined glass backdrop with dark spandrels that lighten as they descend, the design introduces a sophisticated, modern presence that enhances the street’s evolving architectural narrative.
