Superquinn, Cinema & Leisure Development Naas
PROJECT DETAILS
Superquinn, Cinema & Leisure Development Naas
Through a consultation process with Naas Town Council, Burke Kennedy Doyle Architects undertook a number of high level Masterplan studies for the development of this site in conjunction with the development of the key adjoining sites which make up the Devoy quarter in Naas town. This led to a planning application for a flagship 5000m² Superquinn supermarket building at the northern edge of the site including a number of independent retail units at ground level facing onto the Limerick road, with offices and staff accommodation overhead. At the Southern end of the site a 6 screen, 700 seat Multiplex cinema was proposed around a landscaped plaza deck.
The two buildings are linked by a major new public plaza with a glass pavilion café building at its centre. This new landscaped environment will link across a pedestrian calmed roadway to a river walk bounded by landscaped swales providing a new pedestrian link back to Naas Town centre. This area will provide a strong visual amenity coupled with the opportunity for biodiversity and enhanced attenuation.
