Kilmainham Orchard Residential Development
The scheme is located on a site behind Emmet road in Inchicore directly overlooking the Cammock River and in the shadow of the rear of Kilmainham Gaol.
The development is fronted by a terrace of timber clad Duplex units which continue the language of the buildings on Emmet road while stepping down the sloping site toward the Cammock. Each house is located over a single storey apartment whose roof provides an open deck to the rear of the unit above.
At the end of the terrace is the apartment building which follows the line of the river bank at the lowest part of the site. This block is marked by a high corner tower whose timber and stone form takes a cue from the mass and language of the Gaol across the river. The tower is topped with a cupola corner window which rises from floor to ceiling in the living room of one of the penthouse units and affords superb views in all directions. Each of the other 19 apartments in this block has a living space and balcony directly overlooking the river.
