Kennans House, Temple Bar
PROJECT DETAILS
Kennans House, Temple Bar
Number 19 Fishamble Street is a four storey over basement early 19th century building. The third floor which was removed in the mid 20th century was reinstated during the refurbishment which was carried out in 1999. The aim was to restore the building for a modern functional use while maintaining its early 19th century character, retaining as much of the original structural fabric and architectural features as possible. The entrance hall, stairwell, first and second floor rooms were restored to their early 19th century state. The third floor has been reconstructed in a modern, open plan manner, with modern detailing internally. The building is currently occupied by The Contemporary Music Centre which is Ireland’s national archive and resource for new music.
